Are Your Tampons Giving You Cramps?

It wasn’t until I ran across a Healthtalks video about organic tampons that I even thought about what I was using. After all, you can tell a lot about a girl from the tampons she uses.

What! You don’t use Pearl?

Let’s just take a minute to think about using tampons. Every month on the low end, the average woman uses around 24 tampons over the course of 6 days. 24 x 12 = 288 tampons a year. Then let’s look over the average number of years a woman has her period, we’ll go with 30.

288 x 30 =

 8640tampons

So what’s the problem?

Our lady parts are very delicate and absorbent, and are a gateway into the rest of our bodies. What we use there, is sure to effect the rest of us.

By staying with conventional tampons, you are sure to see an increase in the following :

#1Increase Toxins - Conventional cotton is the #1 most toxic crop. It is sprayed with the most pesticides, herbicides etc than just about anything else. In fact, cotton crops use over 25% of the world’s pesticides. Those conventional tampons are also made with synthetic products called rayon, polypropylene and plastic. Conventional tampons and pads are also bleached with chlorine dioxide, which is extremely toxic and linked to cancer. They say only trace amounts are found in tampons, but also this process releases the dioxin into the environment. Then they are doused with lots of synthetic/chemical fragrances and odor neutralizers which are linked to hormone disruption and can cause allergic reactions.

Translation: conventional tampons are sitting in you for hours leeching harmful chemicals into your body that you are absorbing.

Please watch this:

#2Increase Inflammation – I found this out when I started my healing journey from endometriosis. When you introduce all of those foreign and toxic chemicals straight into your body via a tampon, this aggravates your cervix. It creates an inflammation response in your lady parts and that translates into PAIN. I cannot tell you how drastically my cramping went down after I switched over to organic tampons. When we give the body something that is not natural, it wants to get rid of it. Toxic tampon = body’s natural defense.

#3Increase GMO Consumption - 94% of cotton in the US is a GMO or Genetically Modified crop.  I won’t go into the full description here, but I encourage you to read my posts GMO on Human Health and  GMO on the Planet’s Health. GMO’s are greatly impacting our own health, and the health of our soil and our air quality. By simply choosing convention tampons we are actively participating in this world of chemical harm on our planet, and ultimately on ourselves.

Good News:

Organic tampons are now more available than ever before. Even if you live deep in the woods, you can order these off Amazon. Organic tampons are made without all those harmful chemicals and fragrances, bleached with hydrogen peroxide and even come without a plastic applicator if you want.
